What to put on a plumbing invoice

Show the service call fee on its own line
If you charge a call-out fee, list it separately, and say whether it comes off the repair price. Customers accept a fee they were told about.
Describe what you did, not only what you fixed
"Replaced 50 gal water heater, new shutoff valve, hauled away old unit" says more than "Water heater job", and it helps if a warranty question comes up later.
Say when and how you want to be paid
Put the due date on the invoice and use the Notes box for how to pay. Terms you wrote down are easier to hold to than terms you only said.

Questions about plumbing invoices
Should a plumbing invoice be hourly or a flat rate?
Either works. An hourly invoice shows hours and your rate, and a flat-rate invoice shows one price for the job. Whichever you quoted is what the invoice should match.
Do I charge sales tax on plumbing parts and labor?
It depends on your state and on what you're selling, and the rules for parts and labor can differ. Check with your state's tax agency or your accountant. This generator doesn't calculate tax, so add it as its own line if you charge it.
How soon should I send the invoice?
Send it the same day, while the job is fresh. It avoids the "what was this for?" questions that slow payment down.
