What to put on a roofing invoice
Describe the roof and the work
"Tear off one layer of shingles, replace with new shingles and underlayment, main roof only" tells the customer what was done and which part of the house it covers.
Show damaged decking on its own line
Rotted decking is usually found only after the tear-off. List any replacement separately, with the amount, so it matches what you told the customer on the day.
Say which warranty is which
A manufacturer's warranty and your own workmanship warranty are different promises. Put each in the Notes box in the words it was given in.

Questions about roofing invoices
Should the deposit appear on the final roofing invoice?
Yes. Show the deposit received as a credit, so the customer can see the full job price and the balance still owed.
How do I invoice extra work found during the job?
Give it its own line with a description and the date the customer agreed to it. Extra work with no paper trail is the line most likely to be disputed.
Do I charge sales tax on roofing work?
It depends on your state and on whether you're selling labor, materials or both. Check with your state's tax agency or your accountant. This generator doesn't calculate tax, so add it as its own line if you charge it.
