What to put on a tree service invoice
Name each tree
"Oak by the back fence, removal" and "Maple at the driveway, trim" keep a multi-tree job clear and stop arguments about which tree was which.
Say whether cleanup was included
Hauling the wood, chipping the branches and raking up are often the lines customers question. List them, or write that the customer kept the wood.
Show equipment as its own line
If you brought a crane or a bucket truck, a separate line shows why a job cost what it did.
Line items tree service companies often use
- Tree removal
- Tree trimming
- Stump grinding
- Cleanup and hauling
- Emergency or storm call-out
- Equipment charge
- Wood chips delivered
- Permit fee

Questions about tree service invoices
Should I price each tree separately?
It's usually clearer. One line per tree, with the work and the price, lets the customer drop one from a future job without redoing the whole bill.
How do I show a storm or emergency call-out?
Give it its own line, and say in Notes how it's calculated, so the premium isn't a surprise after the work is done.
Do I charge sales tax on tree work?
It depends on your state and on what's being sold. Check with your state's tax agency or your accountant. This generator doesn't calculate tax, so add it as its own line if you charge it.
